Bajaga Team Kefamenanu organized an English Day event in Humusu Wini Village, a remote area near the Indonesia-Timor Leste border. The activity aimed to improve the English language skills of children in the region.
The event began at 2:25 PM local time in front of the Humusu Wini Village Office, after obtaining permission from the village head and secretary. A total of 21 children enthusiastically participated in the learning session until its conclusion.
Two parents accompanied the children and helped recruit other participants by going door-to-door, ensuring no one missed this learning opportunity. The strong community support reflected the locals’ high interest in education.
Although the village head and secretary could not attend due to other commitments, they expressed their full appreciation and support for TIM Bajaga. They hoped such collaborations would continue to advance education in the border area.
One of the attending parents also expressed gratitude to TIM Bajaga. “We are very happy with this program and hope it can be held again in the future,” they said.
The English Day session lasted for one hour, with teaching materials adjusted to the children’s comprehension levels. Interactive methods were used to make learning more engaging.
In addition to English lessons, the children participated in educational games to boost their confidence in communicating in a foreign language. A cheerful atmosphere prevailed throughout the event.
At 3:25 PM, the event concluded with a group prayer as a gesture of gratitude for its smooth execution. Moving forward, TIM Bajaga plans to hold similar programs regularly to enhance education quality in the border region, with support from the village government and community being crucial.
This initiative demonstrates how collaboration between volunteers, local authorities, and residents can create a positive impact on children’s education in remote areas, particularly along the Indonesia-Timor Leste border.
